on the history channel recently. I thought it was very good. It is a show about a replica of Cap't Cooks ship the Endeavor and about 50 normal people recreating his sail "Down Under" from the Great Barrier reef to Jakarta. It took about 6-8 weeks As a side note they were on the boat last Sept 11th. Needless to say it was a huge shock to them. they had planned to land in Jakarta, Indonesia just like Capt Cook did, but changed plans last minute due to the political atmosphere at the time....Ironically the modern day replica settled for Bali ....where there was recently a bombing almost exactly a year later

About the olny part I caught was when they were told about 9-11. When we found out about the planes crashing we were on a houseboat on a large lake up in Canada. We had been hiking and had let the captain of the houseboat behind. He had talked with someother people and was told about what had happened. He brought everyone together just like the Ship. I remeber going out on the front of the boat and saying this the safes place to be but I really wanted to be home with family. Everyone then tried getting in touch with their familys back home. The only cell that we could get to work was a old anolg phone someone had. It was a day one will never forget.

Can you believe that as they talked about during the program, the Moon landings were way easier. More people have been to space than sailed around alone. Back then even with crew that took balls!

What a great show. This TV series really hits home with me because the Endeavour was docked at Peanut Island in the Lake Worth Inlet a couple of years ago. It was just a 1/4 mile away from my mooring. Sure was a great backdrop. My best friend and sailing buddy that moors next to me was a volunteer aboard the Endeavour as a tour guide. When it left, we ran along side clear out into the Gulf Stream as they shot the cannons over our head. Liked it, but a little disappointing
I had been hoping there would be more emphasis on the "how to sail a square rigger" part of the show, and on the history. For me, they made the show look, sound and feel too much like one of those ridiculous reality shows like "Survivor". There have been similar films made aboard government sail training vessels like the Eagle and the Danish navy training ship (I forget the name) that I thought were far superior. I liked The Ship, I was just hoping for more.

I thought how cool this new show could be "The Ship" and I planned to watch it. Within the first 30 seconds of the show the narrator said it was taking place onboard the Endeavour, the replica of Captain Cook's famous ship. Well I nearly jumped up and down as I was a tour guide on the Endaevour a couple of years ago here in CT, and really new my way around that ship. Believe me, with 50 people on board, things could get nasty... Well needless to say I was glued to the tube for the rest of the series...Four one hour shows??? and I completely enjoyed it....
