Although it was a scorcher the winds were fantastic yesterday and today. Bug population seemed to be down also. I was lazy and sailed on just my genoa. Clocked in at 5 knots without much heeling - kept the admiral happy!
Anybody else get out on the Bay this weekend?

Great sailing this weekend!!!

Yesterday and today we were out just south of Baltimore. Was great out there. While it was very hot on land, it wasn't so bad out on the water. The wind was very "variable" and we would go anywhere from less than 2 knots to 7.5. Most of the time we were going between 4 and 5.5 though. Great weekend!

Went up to Worton Creek saturday and anchored. Pleasant beam reach most of the way. Beating south sunday wore my ol butt out. Fun!

Great Wind!

The Admiral and I wemt out on Saturday out of Deltaville, VA. The winds steadily built all day and topped out around 20 - 22 knts. We had a great time and got to play with our new Catalina 350. Worst part was getting back into Broad Creek with a 17 to 20 knt cross wind.

Great Day on Middle Chesapeake

Admiral and I took the boat out on Saturday from Deltaville. Lot of boats out enjoying some good wind. The Winds built up steadily and got up to around 20knts. We Sailed between Windmill Pt. and Stingray Pt. for a couple of hours before heading in. It was a fun day to try out systems on our new Catalina 350. Worst part was getting back into Broad Creek with a 15 to 20 knt crosswind.

Yup!

We had 2 great days of sailing. We went to Fairlee Creek for our club's annual Corn Roast. It's the only time I'll go to Fairlee although this year with the high fuel prices it wasn't too bad. The wind was great to sail over and it keep us from roasting on the beach. The corn was sweet and the beer was cold. The breeze all night made sleeping easy and we had a great breeze for the sail home. I de-powered the sails about 5 miles from home so my daughter could sail us home. A great weekend on the Chesapeake.

Nope...

past weekend was a "down" weekend after going down to Middle River last weekend. Despite the breeze, the heat was relentless, making cleaning the spider poop off the boat even more agravating. Sunday morning coffee in the cockpit with 84 degrees was a lot like sitting in a convection oven.

For any of you Bay racers, next weekend is the North East River Yacht Club Invitational off Turkey Point Saturday morning. If we get air like last weekend it will be a great event. If not, the party afterward is always a blow-out. Come on up and sweat with us...

I have been out in temperature like this past

weekend and I would just as soon sit in a car in a parking lot. The winches get too hot to touch. Even with an awning the radiant heat is deadly from my point of view. These is what sailing in the tropics must be like.

It was a maintenance weekend

Didn't go out. Had to make up for all the time we already put in on the water. Instead I scrubbed the boat from stem to stern, wash the canvas, etc. We were out last weekend and the conditions were pretty much the same. We had dropped the hook in Still Pond Sat night. Had a great sail there in 10-15kts winds but the trip back was even better. We lifted the hook, motored thru the crab pot field and set sail. The admiral had the helm until it was time to put her in the slip. One tack from Still Pond to Ordinary Pt in the Sassafras. Broad reaching we saw speeds up to 8.9kts. I was trimming and the wife was steering, we had her smokin the whole way back. Amazing what a clean bottom and 15+ kt winds will do for you :) Also looks like maybe the wife has a better touch on the wheel than I do, and that's a good thing! Heading to Cape May for a week next Sat. Hoping for good winds/weather.

Hey Barometer...

You got a bigger picture of your avatar you can post? It kind of looks like a sailboat underwater, or a ghost ship, very eerie...
