Anybody Replace original HVAC unit?

Appears my original 2003 MarineAirr (now Dometic) heat pump has bit the dust. I had some intermittent sticking of the reversing valve over the winter and we’ve used the boat heavy compared to most with 1209 days on board since new in March 2003. We run 100% while onboard either via dock power or generator, ran it continuously while on a winter cruise to Florida for 6 months in 2013-14 and for the last 4 years I have wintered it at my hometown marina where I left it on power all winter and kept it heated with the unit.

I’m going to replace the unit and the seawater pump. Size of the ECD 16000 BTUH unit is really close but the blower and compressor look like they have swapped ends so the unit will turn 180 degrees from original. How has this been dealt with a replacement and if so, how did you deal with the ducts?

Thanks.

Escape didn't have an original HVAC unit but I added a mermaid marine 16000 BTU heat pump system and it's worked really well for 15 years. fits perfectly next to the refrige compressor

Thanks Chuck. My unit came installed with my boat and it was made by MarineAirrr. Dometic bought out MarineAirrR and the unit that I am looking has the blower end next to the Adler/ Barber compressor. It supposedly rotates but not sure how it will work with the duct. May have to rotate it 180 degrees. Hope somebody has done this and knows what all the issues are. After 17 seasons, I guess I got my money’s worth! Hope you are doing well!

Easier than I thought.

Old one...

New Unit is quieter and more compact.

Jim...

PS: MarineAirr has always been owned and made by same company who broaden its scope under the new Dometic name.
PSS: The Top picture should be rotated 180° to match the 2nd picture orientation.
