There's a used-but-new inflatable for sale in the Gear Ads section. It's made by Silver Marine. It looks like a deal, but I don't know anything about Silver Marine. Does anybody have any experience with their boats? Thanks.

Are they the one's on ebay? Made in Canada or something like that? If they are, they are PVC.

Yes / No

Yes, the ad lists the boat as pvc. But no, I checked on ebay and there are none listed there. The pics I saw elsewhere on the web looked pretty good. I especially like the specs for load carrying capacity.

I was this close (index finger and thumb about a 1/4" apart) to buying one of those. Instead a guy on here gave me a great deal on a used hypalon for about the same money. I am in Texas with the baking heat so pvc was not recommended by ANYONE on here.
Where are you at Felix? Do you have a boat or are you just looking at buying a dink and crusing that?

Pvc sux. Don't ever buy any inflatable that is not hypalon.

I have a 2007 SilverMarine 250 PVC dinghy with a slat floor that I got as a closeout from I-boats.com. I only paid about $359.00 for it and as for ocassional use as a trailer sailor it is just fine. Easy to handle on deck and still looks great after three years. The tube size is 14" and is smaller than most inflatables and you can really tell it in choppy waters. As a dink for a single hander, it will fit the bill.
For two people all the time, I would go with a dink with the larger tube size. I actually picked up a 2006 Mercury 270 hypalon for a song, needed lots of cleanup but it is much more stable on the water with passengers.
I plan on keeping my SM dink for when I go single handing because it is so much easier to handle by myself and fits perfectly on my foredeck.

I agree with Bill about PVC, but if you plan on storing it away after each use, you can get several years out of the unit. If you want to tow it around with you all summer, I suggest that you pay the piper and get a hypalon unit.
