Anybody from Maine going to the Atlanta Boat Show?

My brother and I are talking about going to the Atlanta or maybe the Miami Boat show in January or February. We're from Maine, anybody interested in going let me know maybe we can go together.

Atlanta show isn't worth the trip

It's a very small local show that has lots of fishing boats, ski boats, go fasts and houseboats, but very few sailboats and no large ones (I lived in Atlanta for 25 years and was an exhibitor for a number of years, so I do know what the Atlanta show is). If you just want an excuse to visit Atlanta, there are better times of year to do it. The Miami show, otoh, is huge. If you want to go south for warmer weather in February, that's the only one to go to.Otherwise, Sail Expo in Atlantic City is a good choice...an even better one is the Annapolis Sailboat show in October.

Annapolis

Atlantic City show is a room in a convention center; its a diversion during the winter. Annapolis is a town, harbor and industry chock-a-block with boats, sometimes known as "the drinking town with a sailing problem."

Newport Show

Rich, The Newport show is this weekend. There will be a contingent there on Saturday from the Maine Hunter Sailing Association. I belong, also, although I'm not from Maine. Check out our web site.

And is a large part of it dedicated to sailing?

put some faces with names. I'll be in the Defender booth signing copies of my book. And yes, I'm planning to come to Annapolis too. And the SSCA meeting in Melbourne FL in Nov.
