h25
Have one of these beasts for some years, and although I have not had all of these problems, I have known other h25 owners who have: (1) Cabin top is balsa cored. Look for deflection in the fiberglass, especially around the area where the electrics and coax pierce the cabintop. Deflection means core has been infiltrated and rotted by water, and will require minor surgury to repair. Not that big a deal if you're somewhat handy(see archives). Same deal around forehatch and portlights.(2)Cockpit drain is inadequet in heavy seas, but if you're a lake or small bay sailor shouldn't be a problem.(3)Ome fresh water system is a 14 gal. bladder with a push-pull pump. If stock , the bladder is probably rottedand the pump probably leaks/fails. Access to the bladder is from the starboard locker for inspection.(4)Inspect hull-keel joint. A boat of this age may (indeed likely) show some cracking at the leading edge . Not a big deal if the joint has been maintained, but if not a prime spot for delamination.(5) Rudder should be inspected for water infiltration/cracking .Again see archives,(6)Rudder bearing in the cockpit should be inspectedfor deterioration.Again not a big desl to replace, but if you'r buying, these little things add up. I should tell you I love my h25 for the sailing I do, and I highly recommend the boat. BTW, I leave out rigging, mast boom, etc. so as not to go on about the obvious. Hope This Helps, Jim
