Any reasonably priced marinas in Conn. along the shore, say from New Haven to Mystic? I'm paying $60 per foot now as a point of reference. Also price aside, which ones do you like, for what reasons. Thanks, Steve

Branford

I am at Goodsell Point Marina in Branford, and I pay about $56/ft. It is a bare-bones kind of place; I have water but no electricity at the dock. I think some of the slips might have power available. Also no showers, pump out station, fuel dock, picnic tables, bbq's, pools or tennis courts. Just bathrooms, docks and boats. I really like it because they let you do your own work (in fact, they insist on it). You also can't beat the location: about a five minute motor to Branford Harbor and another five minutes to the Sound.

New London, Crocker's

I'm paying 81 which includes water and electric. There are showers and a pool. It's a full service yard. There are cheaper moorings but it was a good value when we were shopping around.

Brewer's expensive

At Brewer's (Westbrook) it goes like this... 1. I have a 33-foot boat, but I pay for 36 feet--I think it's $80/foot--because they only have "36-foot" slips. 2. My neighbor has a 38-foot boat, in the same slip size as me. He pays *extra* because his boat is longer than 36 feet! That's even worse than the place in Branford that's charging the guy $56/foot with no electricity. We'll be moving on next year. I have a nice, cheap marina in the same area all picked out. On LI Sound, where you are is the most important thing, anyway. Too close to New Haven, and where do you go? You're gonna get tired of Port Jeff, the Thimbles and Milford pretty quickly. The place to be is on or east of the CT river. There, you're in weekend range of Eastern LI, Block Island, Fisher Island, Watch Hill, and Newport. Check out Spicer's in Groton. That might fill the bill for you. Paul sv Escape Artist h336

thanks for the replies

Yeah Ed, $60 a foot is not too bad compared to some along the east coast; but I'm along the Hudson 100 miles north of NYC. Takes 2 days to get to the LI Sound by sail boat, 2 1/2 - 3 hours to Conn. shore by car. I'm considering relocating the boat and doing weekend trips out of there for next year. I'd like not to pay much more than I'm currently paying.
