Hey Guys, I'm skippering my boat in my first race over Memorial Day Weekend. It's the Figawi Regatta from Hyannis to Nantucket. Since it's my first race I thought I'd post to see if anyone has any advice. I've crewed a number of times before on other people's boats, but this is the first time I'll be at the helm. Generally, the race is a reach for about 22 miles, winds typically 10 to 15 knots. I have a 150% genny, a cruising chute and an old main. There are a total of 5 crew including myself. I just installed the running rigging upgrade kit from Catalina Direct, including a new solid boom vang. Any C-30 owners out there feel like sharing some of their secrets?? I sue could use some advice! Thanks in advance. Allen Schweitzer s/v Falstaff C-30 Hull# 632

Sailtrim

and a clean bottom.Crew weight in the right places according to wind speed. Sailtrim Sailtrim Sailtrim. Read Don Guilette's book on sailtrim and sail for boatspeed. I miss sailing Figawi, I live in Florida now. Did that race four years in a row. Rest your liver prior to the weekend. Leave your kids at home!

Good luck, Allen. I know you have waited a year for this. Have some liquid handy during the start of the race. You will be so excited that your mouth will be as dry as a bone. Sean S/V Carnaby Street C30 #360

Thanks!

Hey Guys, Thanks for the posts. Joe, your recommendation to sail for speed (instead of pointing, I assume?) is something I'm going to take you up on. I'll let you guys know how I do. There's at least 1 or 2 other C-30's in the race, too. Wish me luck!! Allen Schweitzer s/v Falstaff C-30 Hull# 632
