I have a 2002 Passage 456 , yanmar 4jh3-te 75 hp turbo engine and have installed a 3 blade flexafold folding prop 20-14 and we are told we are over propped,(tell tale blue Ish white smoke, and oil dripping from air breather) flexafold says no, diesel mech says yes, if someone has the same boat and same prop and can get 3600 rpm in forward under load I would like to know, I cannot get more than 3200 rpm in forward, can get 3809! In reverse and 4000 in neutral.

I have a 2003 466 with the 75hp yanmar and a 20x14 3 blade flexofold. I achieved 3600rpm with the previous 18 x 17 3 blade fixed and I achieve 3600 rpm with the flex o fold. Another friend of mine has the same results with the same set up a H460. I don't think you are over propped.

Since I have had the engine compression checked and it was in specs I wonder what other issue could be the cause for the 400 rpm loss?

The bluish smoke and oil leaking from the intake indicate that your turbo is probably failing. If the turbo is no able to deliver the correct intake pressure the overall power of the engine will be down. Low power results in not being able to achieve the correct RPM under load. In reverse and in Neutral the load on the engine is less than in forward. I would suggest to check the manifold pressure under full load and compare it to the specification. If it is low have the turbo rebuilt. Most diesel fuel injection shops can rebuild turbos. Good luck.
