Great boat
I've had my 240 for 4 months and am happy to report tremendous satisfaction with it. No problems in any aspects; of course I will be making the much publicized alteration to the jib cleats- which are functional but a giant pain in the keester. Many people speak of the boat's tenderness, but I submit that this is just a case of getting used to a different boat. I graduated from a Hunter 170, so the 240 seems like a rock to me. In high winds (20+), she will heel a lot if you don't exercise caution; but I have done the following in those conditions: 1) sailed with main alone and achieved speeds of 5+ knots without scaring the dickens out of my crew 2) sailed under jib alone and achieved speeds of 5+ knots without scaring the dickens out of my crew 3) sailed under reefed main and achieved speeds of 5+ knots without scaring the dickens out of my crew. 4) sailed under reefed main and reefed (less than full jib) and achieved speeds of 5+ knots without scaring the dickens out of my crew 5) sailed under full main and full jib and achieved less than 4 knots while scaring the dickens out of my crew. All these ocurred during the same weekend with steady winds in the 20s with gusts up to 30. My point is, if you know your boat and don't fall into the category of thinkning you can only sail fast and well with all sails up full and sheeted in to max, then you'll love it. She sails fast and steady "on her feet" as I think all boats do. By the way, on that particular weekend, there were a lots of boats sailing main only or jib only, so I didn't feel like a wuss. We love to anchor out on our 240, so opted for the cabin enclosure. It's the best add-on for the money. Gives you lots of ventilation and allows standup headroom.
