The 460 is built like a tank. I'm the original owner of a 2000 model and owned 3 previous
Hunters. The boat has been problem free for the last 13 years including two extended
cruises to Mexico from So Cal. which put about 8,000 miles under her keel. She has 2000
Hrs on the 4jh2Hte 75hp Yanmar and it runs as new. The rudder issue was always in the
back of my mine,so in 2008 replaced the rudder before my second trip south. The original
composite rudder never gave me a problem and looked fine when it was removed for replacement. The new rudder was a stainless shaft made by Foss Rudder in Florida. Foss
still makes all the rudders for Hunter. During the years Hunter made the composite rudder
shafts, according to Hunter they were made in house. I had several in depth conversations
with Hunter before I ordered the new rudder. Foss is a great company to work with and
VERY knowledgable. I'm presently preparing Misjudged for a departure next Oct. to Mexico,
Central America, thru the Canal and north along the Western Caribbean to Isla Muriles, Key
West and finally home in Cape Harbour Forida. The 460, 466, 450, 456 are great solid
boats which share the same hull and rig. The 466 and 456 also had Kevlar reinforcement
In the bow section. The 460-456 series of boats should not be confused with the later
model 45CC or DS. Completely different boat, design, rig and displacement.
