sitting well on the trailer

It seemed to be sitting well on the trailer. Very square to the bunks. After the survey, the lines were still visible when it was back in the water. Unfortunately we didn't notice it the lines were present prior to putting the boat on the trailer.

Repaired and not fair?

How old is the boat, and are you sure that there hasn't been any repair work done on that side? It's just about impossible to get the topsides perfectly fair after a patch or major scrape repair. Just a thought.

did a comparison today

As I'm about 200 miles from the boat, I can't easily get back to look it over again but it just so happens there is a '97 281 just down the dock from me. I checked it out this afternoon and it has the same "imperfection" on both sides of its hull sitting in its slip. This is leading me to more of a manufacturing issue that might be somewhat "normal" on Beneteaus. Perhaps the Bendy-Toe comment has more truth than not. That being said I think it is most likely not a structural issue worthy of long term concern or certainly there would be known issue of these boats.

Thanks to all

Just wanted to extend a thanks to all who answered. I have purchased the boat so if I ever get a definitive answer I'll post. My surveyor sent pictures to Beneteau enginners so I may have an answer soon. Over the phone the engineer was guessing epoxy shrinkage but wanted to see the pictures. Again thanks!
