OK, back from the boat today, and definitely do not have the loop, anyone know where I might get one? Yanmar? I do not see it in either the operator’s manual or the service manualquite sure that I don''t have the loop on mine. I'll be out there on Sun and double check. Sounds like one end goes to the ellbow and the other comes off of the head?

You should be able to find a vented loop in the WM store or catalog as well as any well-stocked marine store (such as Fawcetts near your). You will also need new hoses and clamps in order to put it into the water line to the mixing elbow.

In addition to using MaineSail's butyl tape (I'm assuming you mean just for the screws, please correct me if I am wrong) under the companionway molding/extrusion, should I apply any other additional sealant under the teak?

Just maybe I think I found the source of the leak.... After searching everywhere, I noticed these (see pics) cracks all along the cockpit floor. I also noticed that PO had put calk along the seams. My question now, is 1) could these cracks really be the source of such leaks and if so, how best to cure the leak.

With leaks on a boat anything is possible! However I would wonder that these are the source given 1) the stbd list of the 34 and 2) you would need to be bow heavy to have the leak travel from that aft location in the cockpit to the forward wall of the aft berth. It also looks like that leak didn't come down from the top, the wet stain looks like it came up from the bottom?
Hi Richard... It's definitely not from the bottom you could see it weep down the aft cabin bulkhead where the engine is.

Though the cracks may allow some water to gather in the bilge, I agree with Richard that water would be unlikely to travel FWD and PORT. You had mentioned the companionway frame as being a possible source, so removing and rebedding it with butyl tape might be a solution. Reviewing the water damage photo to the engine compartment bulkhead, it appears to me the water is possibly running down between the heat insulation and the bulkhead to the bottom edge of the heat reflective material. I suggest removing the material to find the source of the flow. I think you will find more damage where the water has soaked the material and the wood to the point that it showed on the aft cabin bulkhead surface.

Thanks Splax... Since I've ripped open the aft cabin engine bulk heads and part of the deteriorated wood that supports mattress support adjacent to the engine area, i've also ripped out the heat insulation you referred to. I am now just waiting for some rain and I'll head into the cabin and watch it. As far at the companionway frame, I cleaned out and removed and reset all screws as well as the piece of teak that is just outside of the companionway with Butyl Tape from Maine... However that wasn't the cause... I am still seeking!
