An Elementary Perspective
Two of my favorite books Keep the Lights Burning Abbie by Peter Roop is based on a true story of a lighthouse keepers daughter in Maine. My first graders loved this book as a read aloud. For 2/3 grade on up is Carry On, Mr. Bowditch by Jean Lee Latham. My fourth graders love this book to read as well as a read aloud. They know I sail and we have has many lively discussions about math and navigation. This is one of my favorites!!
