Hello All,

Before I go and cut another hole in the top of the deck I wanted to know if this device works well. I looked it up on a search of the forums but could only find one person who used it. He said it works well but that was years ago. Just wondering what the general opinion was.

BLUE SEA SYSTEMS CableClam Waterproof Through-Deck Fittings

This is for a VHF where the end does not have a pg259 on it yet.

Thanks

Superb performance on our C25 from 1987 to when we sold her in 1998. A good bit o'kit, as they say....:)

Also, rtfm...

I've used it and it works great! I bought the largest one they make and used it to run the radar cable, anchor light wire, and loud hailer wire through it. You have to drill through the rubber and slice it so it can accept the wire. I drilled three holes and made three slices so I could run three wires. It worked pretty slick!

I agree with the others. But CAUTION: When drilling the hole(s) make sure they are a snug fit. Use a micrometer on the cable and pick a drill of that size or very close to it. That way when you screw down the top cover it will force the rubber very tight to the cable and seal it.

Yes, they work well. I used one when I rewired my mast a few years ago, no issues.

yes they are a very good divice for running wires through the deck and or cockpit floor ... you do need to be very percise on drilling the hole and also when you cut the split use a sharp knife not any kind of saw that will remove the material ....i used two of them in march on an allmand 35 and have had no issues with them....a little pricey but then you get what you pay for ...they also make an elongated one as well for multy wire use....good product....

I'm not familiar with this particular device but I have seen similar devices on non-marine outdoor radio cabinets and such, They are never used on a flat-top surface but instead on the side or bottom. It may be fine but that jumps out at me right away. Obviously, others here are more familiar.

Been using them for years and they work as advertised. The plastic does deteriorate if out in direct sun for in about 4 years. Chuck
