My 2 prong Fuel/Oil Pressure Switch buzzer is going off (occasionally). I connected a mechanical oil pressure gauge and I have 35+ lbs of pressure with the alarm going off. I am pretty confident I don't have a oil pressure issue and it is just a bad sending unit. I ordered a new sending unit but I am not sure it will be here before a 100 mile trip I am planning.
The wiring diagram shows that the second (prong) 2 wires goes to the fuel lift pump. I hear the fuel lift pump kick on when I turn the key on.
I was going to disconnect the buzzer wire to kill the alarm until the new sending unit is installed.
I have a oil pressure gauge mounted in cockpit on a separate sending unit and it shows good pressure.

If the Factory sending unit is faulty will that kill my fuel lift pump if it activates the buzzer?

Will a faulty lift pump activate the buzzer?

I have read you do not need the lift pump as long as you keep more then 1/2 tank of fuel.

Is it okay to do my trip? Will I cause any damage or unreliability if I keep fuel above 1/2 tank?

Thanks

We have the M25-XPB which is very similar. You can bypass as your are saying but really that is not the easiest thing to do. Tank the oil pressure switch out and bring it to your local auto parts store. They will have an equivalent that works. If you look around you can even find one with screws instead of clips that tend to break.

See this post from last year.

Good luck and fair winds,

Or a farm and tractor shop. That is a Kubota tractor engine and the tractor version of the sender would be the same of it has the fuel shutdown function. Not all do.

JK Boston...I don't think I can take it to auto store to match up... this sending unit has a prong for the fuel lift pump, which appears to be a + feed. Standard Oil pressure switches typically have a - feed.

I replaced sending unit with the correct 2 prong one. 15 hours of run time ...no alarm. I feel confident it was just a bad sending unit...Thanks all for the input! FYI if you need to replace it is a 1- 1/16th socket.
I also have a single prong sending unit for sale new half price $20. if anyone wants it.
