My 2 prong Fuel/Oil Pressure Switch buzzer is going off (occasionally). I connected a mechanical oil pressure gauge and I have 35+ lbs of pressure with the alarm going off. I am pretty confident I don't have a oil pressure issue and it is just a bad sending unit. I ordered a new sending unit but I am not sure it will be here before a 100 mile trip I am planning.
The wiring diagram shows that the second (prong) 2 wires goes to the fuel lift pump. I hear the fuel lift pump kick on when I turn the key on.
I was going to disconnect the buzzer wire to kill the alarm until the new sending unit is installed.
I have a oil pressure gauge mounted in cockpit on a separate sending unit and it shows good pressure.
If the Factory sending unit is faulty will that kill my fuel lift pump if it activates the buzzer?
Will a faulty lift pump activate the buzzer?
I have read you do not need the lift pump as long as you keep more then 1/2 tank of fuel.
Is it okay to do my trip? Will I cause any damage or unreliability if I keep fuel above 1/2 tank?
Thanks
