Any experience with an O'Day Mariner?

I am going to look at an O'Day Mariner(1975). Does anyone have any experience with this boat, positive or negative? It has the original sails, plus a newer genoa. It's a one owner boat. I've only sailed sunfish before. The 222 I looked at did not pan out.

David -I have sailed abord a Mariner but not in a while. I remember it being a fairly well performing boat. They are noted for being solidly built and safe. Weighted centerboard provided righting force making them very hard to capsize. There is great continuing parts support from Stuart Marine in Rockland, ME who are still building them.If the boat is in ggod condition and meets your needs spacewise, I'd say a Mariner is a good bet.Justin - O'day Owners' Web

Mariner

I have recently restored a 1972 Mariner,sails and all. This boat was in someones backyard for twenty years and needed lots of work, but now that I have finished and am sailing it I think it is a great boat, much more stable than the 16ft M-Scow that I did have.I hope it works out for you. Bob
