Hi,

We are looking for an owner's manual. I found a thread that mentioned one awhile back in the archives, but no evidence of one online. Also, as I mentioned in my previous post, we're hoping to find someone who can send us dimensions and photos of the emergency tiller for the '84 Hunter 27'. It was stolen over the winter but we just realized it was gone this past weekend.

Any info or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Cara

Back then, there really wasn't much of an "owners manual". In that size range they usually had one small pamphlet that would cover several models and barely showed diagrams of rigging, elec., and plumbing if you were lucky. Hope someone on here can help, but don't get your expectations up. :>(

Yes, that's what I'm guessing as well. I'm more interested, actually, in getting photos and dimensions of an emergency tiller. i've got to believe someone out there owns a 1984 Hunter 27'...

Ditto. I talked to Hunter and there really wasn't an "owners manual" Under the Boat Info tab is what is available.
If claskey can not provide the emergency tiller information, I will also get it this weekend and post it on the site. I have a 1982 Hunter 27' and it should be the same.

Thanks to claskey and bgg0728... photos and dimensions would be so helpful!! I've heard from a number of people that the tiller should be relatively easy to build ourselves and that information would be a step in the right direction.

I guess the silver lining is that the vandalism got us motivated to work on the boat and make it better than ever... We just can't imagine why anyone would steal an emergency tiller given the specs are so unique from boat to boat. Then again, why anyone would want to shred a sail is beyond me, too.

I look forward to seeing the photos and the specs when you get the chance, but more importantly, I so appreciate your responses and willingness to take the time to help out! Best, Cara

Many thanks for the photos. I'm still hoping folks with a 27' will post, as i have no idea how else i can verify dimensions and such. Thanks again, Cara

If it was aluminum, they probably sold it for scrap! Regardless, they outa be shot. Slip mate of mine had his 35.5 broken into several times, 1st time they threw his plexi hatch boards overboard. Idiots...

H27 documentation is here.

As was pointed out, the available documentation for our Cherubinis was/is pretty sparse. But the pamphlet and the spec doc are both PDFs here in the "Hunter Owners Mods" forum. There is a sketch and comments for the H27 emergency tiller. I think that I could make one just from that. It is just a lever that fits into the top of the rudder stock.

Hi Lee -- Your email made my day. What would you charge to fabricate one? We would of course pay for shipping, etc as well. If you want, you can respond off-line at mudhens@rcn.com. many thanks, Cara

Hi there -- first, my apologies for not getting back to you sooner! I've been away and not checking the posts. I think we are all set -- we were able to get a tiller made that is more or less the dimensions we need from another '84 Hunter owner.

Thanks again for your willingness to help and provide photos and such! This was my first experience using a forum like this and people have been very helpful. Happy sailing - Cara
