I want to paint the bottom of my tender. It is a Caribe inflatable with a hard bottom. Has anyone painted the bottom of their inflatable and if so how did you prep and what paint did you use?

When I Had An Inflatible...

... I spent a lot of time and money experimenting with specialty soft bottom paint. Later, I switched to regular bottom paint salvaged from left-over boat yard trash. It worked just as well or better. FYI: this, to put in perspective, was pre-1990. so it may be only a historical footnote to your question. i have had a hard dink ever since

I keep my Carib inflated all the time and use Pettit Vived with good success. A good sanding on the rubber with 60 grit and 150 grit on the fiber glass, clean and prime before applying the bottom paint.

MTD and Aquaguard are both very good and water based so clean up is easy.

I've been using Aquaguard for years with marvelous results. It's the best paint I have ever used (next to Micron44) but without the carcinogenic after effects. And you don't need to wear a respirator to apply it.
