Anti-theft devices for your outboard....

I took the handles off from the bolts, it's not ideal, but it works. If someone really wants my outboat that bad, they could hang on it and tear my entire transom away. I have seen the carnage of a cordless sawzall wielding thief before, it aint pretty, and no lock will protect you from that.

Unfortunately, most security measures aren't ever going to stop the determined thief. The best you can do is hope to discourage them. It's like the old story about the grizzly bear... you don't actually have to out run the grizzly bear, you just have to out run your friend, so the bear can catch them first... :) The idea behind putting a lock on an outboard isn't to make the outboard theft-proof, but to make it more difficult and less convenient to steal than the outboard two slips down. :) Most thieves are opportunistic scum... and if you make it so they have to work for it, they will avoid stealing from you.
