Any comments regarding adding Anti-freeze to a Catalina 25 (fixed keel) Bilge? I'm concerned that I will get water in the bilge and it will freeze. I could add anti-freeze but will this have any negative reation with fibreglass? Your comments are greatly appreciated...thanks.

Water?

Rain/snow, or lake water? I'm not familiar with the C25 bilge, but I wouldn't be pouring antifreeze into my C22 bilge. Kind of messy. Can you syphon or mop up any water with a sponge & then use tarps to prevent rain/snow entry? Regards, Bob B.

Should be fine

I have a 350 and the mast leaks when it rains. So far the solution from the dealer is to pour -50 antifreeze in to the bilge.

No Problem

No problem with putting the pink -50 degrees RV/boat anti-freeze in the bilge. If you don't have a bilge pump, might be a bit of a chore getting it out next spring.

dry bilge for me

Catalina tells me the bilge should be dry at all times and you should dry it after you sail.I have a pice of rotted wood in my bilge and I am going to cut it out over the winter and glass it up in the spring I dont know whow had the Idea to put wood in the bilge but they tell me they stoped in 1988 around boat 5135 my boat is 5112 what a bummer.Ill keep my boat dry from now on .

Dry bilge

Are you referring to water accumulating over the winter while the boat is stored on land? If so, why not remove the knot meter transducer or the hose from the lowest through hull fitting. Water will not rise above that point. Just remember to reverse the procedure in the spring.
