The anti ciphon vent on the raw water circuit of my Yanmar 3GM30F has clogged with salt crystals again. When this happens the valve in the vent fails to close when the engine is operating, spewing salt water all over the starboard side of my engine! To prevent this from happening again, I've put a hose over the nipple on the vent. Now the big question is where to run the hose. The easiest place to run the hose is into the bilge through the section of the engine pan near the stuffing box. I have two problems with that. First I don't like to put anything into the bilge on purpose. Second the vent is placed high above the engine to get it above the water line. I'm concerned that by running the hose into the bilge which is obviously below the waterline, I've negated the effectiveness of the vent and created a potentially dangerous situation on my boat. Running the hose into the cockpit or overboard in some other fashion aren't easy or cosmetically attractive on the Hunter 335, but may be necessary.Any advice will be appreciated.Gary WyngardenS/V Shibumi H335
