I'm adding a fixed VHF radio to a Hunter 23.5 and want to run the cable through the mast and add a through the deck connector. Has anyone had the experience of trying to fish the cable between the deck and cabin headliner to the radio? I figure on mounting the radio near the companionway. Any tips?

I Could Not

I ran mine under the floor and up the back of the compression post then used a through deck fitting from Boat U.S. (it is just a tad longer than the one at West) just forward of the wire connectors for the mast lights. I think there are a couple of pictures in the photo forum.

It can be done

Around the area of the compression post, you will need to make an access but be careful not to cut any wires. Install thruough deck double female adapter. Run a snake on stbd side and hope that it bend with the curbvature. Make sure that the end of snake is not blunt or it will catch. When done, a nice piece of trimmed teak or lexan with black tape on the side against the ceiling will do fine. That is what I use to do and it looks great and is out of the way. The only problem which is time consuming is running the snake through. I wish I had a muscrat to do that for me. Crazy Dave Condon
