Yeah. So, I posted this one other time to a place where IF I had got a response would have got me. Anyway, I thought about picking this thing up for another project that I can spend 100 thousand dollars on and have a 15 thousand dollar boat. But what the hell is it? The numbers say 'FLX***' etc, which indicates a one-off, homebuilt, or salvaged vessel. If some bloke cast this hull in their backyard, I would have LOVED to see it, but that doesn't seem right. Inside there's more teak than Thailand, V8 Cat Diesel which is a gift from the Lord, and a wheel that looks like it goes on a tug. Motorsailor I'm guessing, because dragging THAT screw through the water is gonna take something. Oh yeah, single mast, surprise, huh?

I know, I know, lemme have it. You won't be the first to call me a fool.
That's why I am: Patterson, LORD of the idiots..

There. You see? You oughta go through life being this stupid. And not one person yet has reminded me of it yet. Again.

I evidently just didn't do something right the first time, proofreading the post would have gone a long way. Anyway, let the rending and shredding begin..

Looks like an old Bruce Roberts steel hull to me. Just an (un)educated guess.

deja vu ... wasn't that boat pictured here by another person within the last year? Or perhaps I've just lost it!

Yeah Joe, I did post that earlier on the C22 side, and I'm too dumb to figure out how to move it, and it never got kicked out as inappropriate for the site. Go figure..

Yeah, the Cat was actually a big deal for me. I have long had an affinity for the yellow motor, mainly because I have so much experience with them. I like better a 3406, but 3408 will do. Huge engine room with a Westerbeke generator in it, and you can move about easily.

And a good guess on the Roberts design look, but this monster is glass. And the keel must be at least 18 inches across at the bottom. It's a biggun, I recollect about 50 something feet.

Thanks folks.

And yeah, I can take the ragging. I didn't post this for anybody to tell me how wise of a decision I'm making here..:D

Wow

You'd think that someone willing to take the time to build such a beautiful boat, would take the time to keep it in good shape?

she looks like a beast... and could take a pounding in hard weather. I think if you enjoy working on old boats, then it makes sense. You can see what it could be...:)

Hi Chris,

Cleaning & fixing that one up will keep you out of bars and away from wild wenches, for a day or two.

LOL, it may keep you away from wild wenches, but very close to wild wrenches.

Hehe, Now that's the kind of beating I like. But the truth is, I would just as soon work on a boat than use it. Go figure. I'm needing a new project that will take about three years, and I would truly have to stretch this out to make it take that long. That's the curse of unrepentant workaholics.

Nah, I see derelicts everywhere. Many stories of why I suppose, but this one SORTA had a reason. The owner and his buddies had a little coin, and they would lay around the islands doping it up until they were about dead, bring it here to the hill, go to rehab and get dried out, saddle up, and do it again. Except this time waited a little to late. I don't know whether it makes me sad; or want to spit on the ground. The interior would make Amanda Knoxs' apartment look good. Anyway, that truly is a butt-ugly panel ain't it? Major surgery on the superstructure would be in order, I would more than likely cut new lines on 'er. I'm not afraid of nuthin. It's like I tell 'em when they come to the dirt-pile, I can cut it in half and make it ten feet longer if you want. I aim to please, if it costs every cent you've got..

I like her. A pretty sturdy motorsailor. Does she have a centerboard; if so she might actually sail pretty well. A Cat v-8 is a huge engine for that boat, wow.

Naw Cap, she doesn't. My bet is she won't point at the moon. That's what made me figure the kitty cat motor being so big for. I can't really say I was in the market FOR a motorsailor, but like said, it does kind of appeal to me. I've already envisioned rolling overpowered compensation boats under the keel of it. The revenge of the sailboat. Or, 'The Ship Killer' part two.
And yeah, there truly IS a dumpster load of crap in it, reminds me of one of those "Hoarder" sickos'. I've had a little time to pick it over, and from the aforementioned extra curricular activities these all American boys toyed with, there has been some interesting finds. I didn't realize I led such a sheltered life..
