Another Table mod idea

For those of us that want to use the original H26/0 table (large configuration) AND make use of the additional berth space if the table could be lowered, lets put our heads together to come up with an idea... I'll start:1. Remove the support cone.2. Install 3 drop down legs on hinges that can be folded up against the bottom of the table when the table is to be lowered to form the bed. One leg located at the forward (narrow) end of the table, offset so that it can fold up with out interferring with the compression post and keel trunk. The other two could be at the wide end corners, placed inboard enough so that they aren't in the way getting in/out of the settees.OR... (Have to check the measurements to see what is possible)...Fashion a single wide leg for the wide end that is hinged to fold up under the table when it is to be lowered. A shelf or cubby could be hung on it to add a little storage, too.Any other ideas?Fair winds,Tom

Tom. Like your idea. Legs would fold up like a card table.How about taking an idea from the other current posting and raise the table to the top when not in use. Saw in some past postings about doing this.Paul HS/V Linda Belle95 H26

Complementing

I`ve been thinking about this all week ,and came up with this:1)build a solid wood ring underneath the table around the fiberglass support.2)Remove the FiberGlass support,split it in half,as someone mentioned,and fit two fastening devices Trough it,One aft and one in front,so that it is easily put back together around the compression post.The wood ring and gravity will keep the table in the right position when you convert the V berth or the dining table and you would just lift and take apart the FG.suport to take it down.In the early 26 ,would have to fix wood retainers along the seetes and align table by reducing it´s size port and starboard´s.It might make my winter project,since it might require major skills.¿How does it sound?

Wooden ring...great idea

Ulises, the idea of a wooden ring underneath the table where the fiberglass support meets the table is great!I came up with the idea of splitting the support cone, but knew that even with latches to hold it together, there would be stability problems.
