Just completed the annual Semiahmoo 2 day regatta up here in the PNW. For the 3rd consecutive year Spellbound ('86 H 31) won the cruising class distance race and was first overall for the two days. Saturdays distance race was 20 kts with 4 foot lumps. We changed the name of one of our crewmembers from Tom to "dump the main" to avoid rounding up quite a few times.
Once again soundly beating a host of boats including a newer Beneteau 323.

Sunday was 0 to 5 kts, find the wind, sail into a hole, find the wind again kind of day but it was sunny and the beer was cold.

Do you use the TR?
Love 'em.

btw - isn't it "here in the PSW"
Like the man told me - "It's YOUR NW - it's OUR SW".

Don,
The bimini looks good.

We had a jam on our Furlex the last time out.
Looks like we have too many wraps on the drum.
We'll look at it on the weekend and get it sorted out.
Hope to be out on the bay this weekend.

Tribology is the science and engineering of interacting surfaces in relative motion. It includes the study and application of the principles of friction, lubrication and wear. The word 'tribology' derives from the Greek root τριβ- of the verb τρίβω - tribo "Ι rub", and the suffix -logy

In other words i"m a lubricants guy.

Yes I do drive the TR ---- but not in the rain if I can help it ! I restored it as a nice driver not a trailer queen.

Agreed ----- it is our PSW but Blaine in in their PNW.:)

The "Round Saltspring" is the next significant event. It is up to 25 hours duration. Spellbound and an '84 or 85 H31 called Bel Esprit will go at it again. He's beating me 2 to 1 at the moment in this race.

Sorry Shooter II, not familiar with the terms SOG and SOW. Just tried wikipedia with no luck, will you explain to one who is acronymically challenged.

Thank you, note to self, engage brain before showing ignorance. I don't have any hard records of either, just SOW of 7.5 knots (average guestimate) for 1.1/2 hrs with an 8 on the knotmeter once. I took the distance / elapsed time and came up with 6.57 kts average SOG, which included about 20 mins pretty much ddw. There was no current to speak of.

Hope that helps.

LInk to local newspaper report.
