How important is the S.S. tray Dickenson supplied to go under my Newport cabin heater? I know they can only say, "Absolutely vital"
It's going to be a real PITA in my installation. There is a fuel overflow line and it looks like any drips from leaky fuel oil fittings would just follow the lines around and down to the cabin sole or bilge. The tray isn't going to hold much fuel anyway.
My bottom of my heater will be about 4 1/2" above the teak cabin sole.
While on the subject of leaks, how common are fuel overflows? I have a 1 1/2 gallon supply tank. Should I have a 1 1/2 gallon container in the bilge for the overflow line to run to or is a small, early warning, container sufficient? I'm going to have multiple shut off valves, two to isolate the filter and one near the heater for convenience.
