Another person died in my marina!

About 3 months ago a guy in a small 27ft sailboat (liveaboard) passed away and he was not more than 50. Locals in the marina suspect drugs were involved since he acted kinda sketchy but they just carried on thinking he was just a little "off".

Woke up this morning in my marina and not more than 3 boats from me see all kinds of cops and EMT's. I get out and make the joke - "What? Someone else die?" (doh!)

He apparently been there for over a week and was 43. I highly doubt drugs were involved with this guy as I'd talked to him every week or so while we ran into each other getting ice. This guy was a liveaboard also in a little powerboat but he never used the boat as a boat.

I'm in more of a liveaboard marina then most but this is too weird! Hopefully this isnt too common among marina's...

stuff happens in 3s..... beware-one more then yer free until the next one. be safe. there are many silent killers not involving drugs--some involve alcohol and some involve genetix.

One of the guys drank like a fish and apparently all the times I met him getting ice it was for his drinks

CO can be a killer also! Had a couple in an old marina we were living in that just barley made it!

When they redid Rainbow Marina in Pearl Harbor back in 01/02 the first 3 folks who were in the slip we are now in died. This is one of the premo slips out on the end of C dock 100 foot long with 47' slips. Drive right into best view in the marina The marina opened the new docks and the first sail boat moved in. The guy was in his early 60's had some type of miner heart problem developed some type of complication after routine surgery and died. Had been in the slip 5-6 months. Next guy had a 50' gulfstar on the inside of C dock single guy retired guy liveaboard mid 50's. Moves his boat around to C42 been in slip 8-9 months. Thanksgiving Day 04 get's killed in a motorcycle accident on North Shore. 3rd Guy a 43 year old Navy LT (had been a chief) liveaboard moves his sailboat from C40 one spot over to the outboard slip C42. I move my sailboat into his old slip of C40. The LT is in the slip 4 months and drop's dead walking down the dock 4 slips down from his boat. Folks did the whole CPR thing but nothing. Another guy (retired E8) liveaboard buys the LT's boat but will not keep it in Slip C42. For the next 6-7 months none of the livaboards would take that slip even if it was the best slip in the marina with the killer view. We spend 4 months living on our boat during the winter and that year we had both slips 40&42 all to our self. Finially a non liveaboard bought a 42' Tayana A/C and moved into the slip. That boat stayed in the slip for 3-4 years before he sold it I finally got the C42 slip. I now have the best view in the marina

Inquire with the coroner as to the cause of death or have the marina do it. It might be just coincidence but there could be a source of noxious gases.

Good thinking. I will. Both boats were\are about 50 yards from each other in a marina with 200+ slips.

good things comes in pair and bad in three. suggest you stay home for awhile. livingonboard must be stressful.

There two types of liveaboards. Ones who do it because they want to but have the means not to if they so choose or those who have to. These two guys judging by the boats upkeep, size and never seeing them leave the slip think they were most likely the latter of the two. So it that case I would yes, it must of been stressful.
