I have started cleaning out the boat and have found the little cubby hole under teh V birth where the sink water hose comes through. Unfortunatley my boat did not come with a water tank to put there. does anyone know where a water tank can be acquired that will hook directly into the stock water line for the sink?

I'd try D&R Marine, Rudy will know what tank was there originally. You could use a colapsable 5-gallon water carrier from a camping store, yo umay need to replace the included cap/spigot with something else to avoid the cap leaking around the valve assembly in the original cap of those tanks. (we were lucky enough on our CAL 21 to have an extra cap without a spout that we simply added a thru-hull to that fit our water line.) I have added pics of our tank setup, I wish I had a pic of the actual tank cap. The "Y" fitting allowed us to fill the tank without disconnection the line to the pump, we filled the tank with a hose from the dockside faucet (admittedly not a perfect solution...but common on many small boats) which we attached a quick-connect fitting to. That plugged into the tank inlet, we opened to valve on that branch of the Y and then opened the valve on the hose, when the tank was near full, we would shut off the hose valve, disconnect the hose, squeeze the tank to vent out the air that came in with the water, then shut the valve on the fill side of the Y. Believe me....it was a lot easier to do than to describe! Oh, and yes....I admit....I did dampen the cabin once or twice while filling the tank...oops!

PS: that blue box covered an electrical (12V) buss bar.

I really can't speak to the Ody 22 as far as what was used for the water tank, but the O'Day 222 came with a 5 gal. poly tank that had a filler cap on top on one side, and a smaller outlet for your hose connection coming from the sink galley pump.
The company went out of business years ago but I don't see why you couldn't find a suitable water container that could fit and try to set it up so that the outlet hose can connect to the top like mine is set up.
This has to involve a small hose with a washer type fitting on the top end where the outlet hose connects. This smaller hose extends to the bottom of the inside of the tank in order for the galley pump to draw water out of the tank.
Without this special set up, you would need to have the hose connected to the bottom of the tank in order to draw water with the galley pump which isn't very ideal in the event of a leak.
Anyway, I have pictures of my tank to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. I'm sure that once you understand the principle of how it works, you can try to Mickey Mouse something that will work on your boat with the right hose and fittings.
