Hello, I am the proud new owner of a 1988 Tall rig, wing keel 30. I have spent the past several months reading this forum and gaining a tremendous amount of great information which helped me purchase what I believe to be the right boat for me. Thank you.
Now that I own the boat, I have to move it from Lake Ontario to Lake Champlain, VT. I looked into truck transport but thought that was too expensive and have decided to use the NY canal system. Does anyone have experience navigating the canals?

Don't know if you ever get a chance to see Paul and Cheryl Shard on Distant Shores but a few of their episodes covered that. While it shouldn't be used as a navigation tool, obviously, the episodes and blog can give you a good idea as to what you'll be experiencing.

Here's a link to their blog and you can find episodes on iTunes as well.

Would love to make that trip in a few years!

Thanks for the links, the NY canals site has been very helpful and I'm interested in seeing "distant shores".
I've ordered a NOAA book of charts, will get the NY travel guide and the boat has a GPS so I think I'll be good on navigation.
