The author seems to want to draw similarities between this an Cheeki Raffiki, the Beneteau First that turtled. Well yes, they both lost their keel...but this is a stub keel with it's own unique physical weaknesses and the modes of failure were completely unrelated.

Could just be a false perception, but most of the reports on keel loss seem to be regarding new high tech machines vs older "good old boats" that greatly outnumber the latest tech racing machines.
Worry wart that I am, I check my keel attachment every year but I have only ever read of one low tech cruiser ever losing a keel.

Rick;
I used to be an insurance investigator after being an adjuster. For that company to move that quickly and say what they did despite the legal issues, it shows their concerns not only for the boats but the sailors as well. That is why they have a good reputation. I wish all American companies would step up to the plate when things like that happens which would be a better world.
