Another idea for a large holding tank in the 37c

its the tank

Scott, yes the box is the tank. It's epoxied with penetrating epoxy (with an extra layer filling all joints) so that in effect, the inside of the tank is plastic.

Where is your deck and thru hull discharge

I have the original alum tank behind the shower seat. The tank vents behind the shower (fine)and the anti-syphon loop for the raw water intake is behind the head in the outboard cabinet (fine) but both the deck and thruhull discharges are on the other side of the boat. The deck pumpout is above the portside hanging locker and the overboard discharge thrhull is in the port side wing locker under the V-berth. Consequently, I have 3 hoses running through the hanging locker, the deck pumpout line and the loop w/the anti-siphon for the tru hull discharge. How come all this isn't in the cabinet outboard of the head itself, with the deck pump out there too and the thru-hull discharge in the starboard wing locker? Anyone have the set up w/starboard side discharge? Scott

Scott's '85.

I believe Scott mentioned having a "new" H37C, a 1985, in a previous post. It totally escapes me why Hunter moved the plumbing across the boat in later years. I guess that is why Gene put his holding tank in the hanging locker, the plumbing was already there. Anyone know what year they started that? I think most years everything was kept on starboard. If it were my boat, and I was forced into a holding tank change, I would move everything to starboard. This would require three new holes assuming an overboard discharge thru-hull plus a vent and a deck fitting. My discharge thru-hull is in that starboard v-berth locker. It is capped because I am in the Great Lakes. The whale pump was mounted on the inside bulkhead of that locker. The bolts are still there but the pump was gone when I bought the boat. When I leave the lakes I will bolt a macerator in there and add a Y-valve for overboard discharge.

ME Too!

i have an 84. it seems crazy to rout all that stuff to the left side, more disturbs all the lockers. scott, whats your hull number, mines is 386.

Weight distribution may be the reason

A full 20 gallon holding tank weighs 166 lbs, which when added to the toilet, sink and anything else on the same side side of the boat could affect trim. One of my dockmates couldn't figure out why his 33' powerboat listed to starboard till he realized that the head, holding tank, water tank, fridge, and battery bank were all on that side of the boat. The boat sat level after the battery bank and holding tank were moved.

Ed Allen, I've got hull 402 as in

HUN37402H485 and so far I haven't heard of a later produced hull, though Hunter knows how many hulls it produced. Scott

thanks scott.

it is interesting to learn of the different changes that were made. our deck molds are quite different than the earlier models richard from milwalkee was here over the weekend and we found quite a few small changes. Now it makes more sense when i read some of the posts! thanks
