Another Great Weekend

Enclosure works great, Warren - temp inside the boat was 65 while outside it was cold 50-55.

Damn, that enclosure is huge... how much windage does it add to your boat, and how does it affect the sailing performance...

Great sailing this weekend in South Missisippi too! Couple friends and myself sailed to Sand Island, ate lunch, and sailed back to Moss point. Weather was cool to start off but had to strip down to a t shirt by noon. Hope the pic comes thru.

But who cares. It was as if you added a whole new room to the boat. Lot of times we sail with enclosure up on the wind side so as to cut down on cold draft coming through. You can sit up there and not really care what the weather is doing - up to a point...It makes life wonderful.

Exactly !! There are many days in the spring and late Fall we are out in our t-shirts when it is fairly cold with the wind chill. We often put up the wind side to block the wind off the cold water.

It may add a little windage but down-wind with the back open it adds a knot or two. :dance:

I'm jealous, looks like you had a good sail. We pushed it as long as we could and were hauled out last Tuesday. :cry:

I gotta tell you, it makes a lot of guys envious when we motor up from San Diego and Ensenada after races. We put up the full enclosure and are comfortable in our t-shirts even when it's cool out.

One more thing I like about our enclosure

the canvas maker made the clear windows on internal zippers so we can lower the windows and have screens up. This helps when it is warm out and the bugs, BUGS are out. Agree with you Scott, when it is 45-50 out and your sitting there in tee shirts..

Things are looking a bit slow here, so I need to have a laugh! Please take it that way.

Sailingdog - I don't think that I want to downlaod any photos of my boat or kids! You may post them elsewhere and make fun of them!! You posted the photo of Jim's boat on another site with the caption: Man is this ugly!!!

The poor guy. Everyone on that thread is having fun trashing his boat. I like the enclosure but maybe Java has a face that "only a mother could love!"

Hey Sailingdog

Saw how you trashed my boat/enclosure over on SailNet. Why didn't you make that/those comments over here?

The enclosure just went up that weekend when the pictures were taken. It gives us at least 3 more months of sailing we wouldn't have. And believe it or not it only cost $2000 not the $10000 some people paid.

Picture is me having fun in 40 degs with 25-30 kts of wind..

Who cares if it is ugly - I'm out there every weekend enjoying my boat.

Had small craft advisories on this coast. Winds 15/20 with gusts to 20/25. High surf advisory and rough water advisory also. I saw a lot of "small crafts" that should have reefed the main but didn't. Opps, almost lost that boat. Then I was watching a J boat with full headsail up and pop... there goes that sail. Started flapping like a fish out of water.

Me? I don the dive gear and cleaned the bottom for next Saturday's trip up the coast. Changing marinas. Moving from San Diego to Oceanside. Plan on 10 hours but anticipate maybe 7 hours. Praying for a low pressure system to the SW so I can get some easterlies.

Looks like you other coast guys had a fine day for sailing.

Yesterday was a nice day of light wind and 74*, made for a good fishing day. Today we had 20 to 35 winds here and a 15* temperature drop. The water was splashing over the break water. 1 ft wind waves in the harbor. Took a peak outside the harbor 6' waves were breaking just outside the harbor. Most were reefed some were not. Most were only using their mains. Today was a good day for an long nap on the boat.
