Maine Sail's been warning people about Schumacher chargers for a while now and unable to get Schumacher to recognize that they have a problem. We thought mine (put in the boat when I got it in 2005) might be OK since it was an older and higher end model.
I just hooked up to AC to the charger and some other systems with my brand new half boat buck's worth of new AGM batteries right off a freshening charge at the store. Thanks to my new battery monitor, I could see the voltage climb right up to an AGM cooking 15+ volts and stay there.
Getting the &^%#^* out of the boat was one of the most physically brutal things I've ever done on the boat thanks to the location I mounted it in six years ago when I was still a young man. Now, I've got to buy another one and figure out a place to put it.
Let me shout it from my rooftop: SCHUMACHER BATTERY CHARGERS WILL EAT YOUR BATTERIES! They have no place on a boat.
