Another dope?

Not something I would consider but it is an adventure and in these days there are few around. Too many of us are in ruts and don't even know it. My idea of an adventure (at 76 years old) is to sail from Marina Del Rey to Catalina and then possibly to Santa Barbara Island. But with my present 22' sailboat and age, this adventure is more prudent and still has an air of adventure. We all need to test ourselves and to experience things that we don't have complete control over just to feel alive. Novelman

We may not want to pay for some nut to live out his dreams, but we have no choice in the matter. Have you ever thought that some landlubber looks at us sailors in the same light and wonders why his tax money may be used to protect us. It could be worse; if the USCG were to request a credit card number before providing assistance.

Novelman are you at MDR yet?
Went out today for a few hrs. what a great day. 10 -12 kt wind with about a 1 swell. Apparent wind about 45* up and down the channel. Got 6 kts. speed limit is 5 shhh. Should have been there ol' buddy. Frank

Frank, I plan on taking the boat to MDR later next week. Sat and Sun if no rain, but Thurs and Fri if rain on the week-end. Looking forward to sailing with you again. Long range planning is to to Catalina and Santa Barbara Island next July or August. Are you up for it? Novelman

Probably before then. I'd also like to visit the channel islands in June. Maybe a 4 day weekend. Some of us still work you know. Let me know if you are interested we can tow my boat to Oxnard. Frank
