nice looking dinghy

Gary, that's a fine looking dinghy! I've been considering building myself a tender, but the photos of yours have got me looking at the Gig Harbor Boatworks offerings. Is yours the 10' Navigator? Can you stow it on deck easily with that bowsprit, or do you have to tow it? Thanks for the additional photo!

Thanks. We like the dinghy a lot. The bowsprit is removeable for stowage and when we're rowing. Ours is the Captain's Gig which is 9 feet 6 inches long. It stores nicely on our foredeck though we tow it in protected waters. She creates almost no drag. Her disadvantages relative to an inflateable are relative instability when getting in or out though that is manageable with experience. Load carrying capacity is less than an inflateable. I've rowed with three good sized adults on board. She handles the load though her rowing performance degrades. I've not been happy with the finish work on the boat from Gig Harbor. I had to plug a leak the first time I put her in the water. Several of the fasteners have come loose and I thought they did a sloppy job on the finish work. With that corrected by me, she's a great dinghy. Gary Wyngarden S/V Wanderlust h37.5

Dinghy Centerfold

Girls were nice, hunks were...interesting but I think dinghys are a real thing of beauty. Here is mine. A 196? Cape Dory 10. I use it as a tender and it is a lot of fun to sail around an anchorage. Good excuse to get close to the hotties(insert your gender of preference) on other boats! Tim R.
