ANODES

I purchased my 1978 Albin Vega 27 last season. It only has a n anode ona
housing which shaft passes near prop. no direct link to shaft. It also
has a throw over the side anode which I believe goes back to engine. But
this is to me a bit heath Robinson and I would like to fit a hull
version with bolts to hull. No experience anyone able to send me details
and if pos sketch. Also how the shaft near puuley should be connected.
The boat is in portsmouth(Gosport ) but believe it was on freshwater
much of its life. Many thanks for any steer.

Hi Derek,

I'm off up to Scotland to check on my vega in a week, and I'll gladly take
some photos for you, if noone else has already done so.

I have a hull anode bolted through the hull and connected to the engine and
the prop shaft. When the beta was installed, they put in a centreflex
(which I don't think electrically connects the shaft to the engine) and the
prop had corroded quite badly. The other option is to put a wire on the
coupling to connect the two sides together. Doesn't have to be a thick wire
as it's only taking very small currents, but you should be careful that it's
a good, low resistance, connection with no corrosion etc.
