Real or fake tree aside, I think my suggestion is more about the lights; LED = less heat and better than plugging into an outlet, get the battery pack version.
From the second story link; " Sources tell WBAL-TV’s Jim Russ, the Christmas Tree inside the club caught on fire. The fire department has said it is too early to determine a cause of the fire or how much damage has been caused".

Bert Jabins Yacht Yard is the large center of the Annapolis sail business, and has been for over 50 years. If you are player in the Annapolis boating industry, you are a member of the AYC. Wow what a loss what a great place that was
Also the Eastport Yacht Club is a cool place loved going to the dance ther on sat night during the boat show
