I haven't seen anything about how Annapolis survived a blind date with Isabel. Will the city be back in shape and ready for the boat show in October?

Annapolis damage

Quite a lot of water damage to areas around the city dock. Docks at the Marriott Hotel and Fleet Reserve (along Ego Alley) took major hits. There should be enough time to get the boat show put together by Oct. 9. The attached picture was taken Friday morning after the storm and is the spot where the boat show takes place. All water is gone and cleanup is underway.

The show..

My marina on Back Creek in Annapolis is right across from the area where they assemble all the floating docks used during the Boat Show(s), each year, before towing them around to Spa Creek for the shows. Boat show dock assembly was taking place, as usual, yesterday.

debris in water?

Has anyone heard of any dangers about floating debris left in the bay from Isabel? I'm concerned about hitting an object floating below the water. Anyone been out sailing lately? Rick.

Debris

I was out on the Elk and Bohemia rivers on sat. There was a goodly amount of debris floating (literally flotsam and jetsam...), anyway, mostly logs, jugs, bottles etc. Nothing that would really endanger your boat I'd think. The relatively slow speed of sailboats and the teardrop hull will mean you almost never will see a 'direct hit,' and if you do, you'll be going slowly enough to result in a mostly glancing blow. There;'s always stuff in the water. Now, in a full-throttle speed boat or on skis or jetskis--thats another matter.
