Annapolis Show

We were going to visit the Smith Mountain Lake this weekend but I have to work Saturday AM. So... maybe we can go to the Annapolis show instead. Drive from LI Sat. AM and home on Monday. How much of a hassle would this be, given that we don't have reservations for accommodations, we don't have tickets, we've never been to the show before and we don't know the ropes. We do have friends in Severna, I think. Well they are friends, I'm just not certain of where they live.
I wanted to go but I now have to work all weekend. It is a fun show but it will make me miss my old boat anyway....I love my new boat but miss the room of the old one.
So Dave, How long were you going to keep it a secret that you were coming?????

You can park at the Naval Academy stadium and there is a free shuttle bus to the gate. Show up, walk around and enjoy.
You can get tickets at the entrance, but I think they are $5 more than online.

In the MRE, park at the elementry school--it helps the kids' funds and it's a short walk over the Eastport bridge.
Was hoping to go this year on Saturday but weather and the need to winterize the boat are now the deciding factors.

Rainy days are the best days to go to the show - keeps the crowds down. Any why winterize so early? There's at least another month of great sailing on the Bay!
Best bet at this point is to get a room in Baltimore or the Maryland/DC suburbs - 30 minute drive out. The local hotels fill up well ahead of the show. Leave time to wander about town, Annapolis has a lovely colonial small city feel and the waterfront is the focus of activity. Free admittance to the USNA grounds. Weather looks to be cool and rainy, bring your foul weather gear.
Just decided tonight: going solo tomorrow. Going to drive into town zero-dark-thirty, coffee, newspapers, maybe breakfast at Chick &Ruth`s or the The marketplace (if it`s open, never know anymore..).
Although I usually skip the charter tents this year is different as Admiral and I and at least 1 other couple have decided to set up our first ever charter for summer 2016,probably BVI. Coming home with a backpack full of brochures and wild fantasies ..

Boat's on the hard for sale, otherwise I didn't pull it in the past until Nov. The yearend forecast isn't promising to be temperature-kind so I'm getting it done while I can.
Now will be going to take up offers for rides on OPB's.
