Best companies for sailboat insurance in the Annapolis MD area??

Bought a Hunter 356 in 2005 and had it insured with USAA. Signed on with SeaTow for towing insurance and they asked about my boat insurance. The SeaInsure quote was several hundred less then USAA. Before I switched, I got several quotes from brokers and SeaInsure was always cheaper. Of course, you have to join SeaTow at $150 a year but that is for unlimited towing. Even though I have only used towing services two or three times in 35 years of boating, I would never be without it - especially on the Bay with all that skinny water. I sail out of Kent Island.

Try IMIS out of Grasonville. They're a broker that represents several insurance companies. Very well respected among the cruising community.

I use Old United, had the best rate for the coverage and covers 20 Miles out into the Atlantic for no additional fee.

To me, boat insurance if only as good as its claim service. I had my one and only claim in over 30 years of sailing when my boat was totaled by Hurricane Isabel in 2003. I had a check in hand, for the full insured value, about 4 weeks later. Insurer was, and continues to be, Boat US. They get a thumbs up from me.
