Has anyone out there been to to Annapolis sailboat show in the past that can give me some helpful info, like cheap lodging and anything else. thinking about driving down from Ohio. Thanks

The boat show
consumes most of the Annapolis area. Annapolis is pricey most of the time, and even pricier when the show is in town. Most of the hotels there will go for $200-$300 per night .... and it may already be too late to get a room there, the only advantage of which would be to allow you to walk to the show at the waterfront and to walk around Annapolis. My advice would be to try to find a motel in one of the outlying towns outside of Annapolis and drive to the desgiated parking area (football stadium on Rowe Blvd), and take the frequent shuttles there. I would try using a search engine for motels in and around Annapolis, like Davidsonville, Crownsville, Riva, Edgewater, Millersville, Sverna Park, etc.)All of these areas are about a 20 min drive to Annapolis. The show is really fun and really worth seeing so the earlier you lock up a room the better. Hope to see you there!

Baltimore is a good option too
If you've never been here. Got my boat here for a few months, lots and lots to do, and it's 25 miles down to Annapolis via a dedicated interstate. Lots and lots to do both boating and non boating related.

Last Year
I went last year great show you will love it,it did rain pretty bad kept the big crowds a way I think. We got to see a lot of the show in one day, there was a army navy football game which for parking was impossible so we did use the shuttle.we did try to get a room forget about it,so we saw pretty much what we wanted to see which was a lot of boats in and out. My wife thought we saw plenty so we went home that night before I wanted to buy a new boat,we will be going again this year again looking to buy a hunter 33,I am also going to newport show any advise from any body,my wife said its ok to go for aleast two days as long as I am not out of her sight and she holds the check book and credit cards. We are looking to buy a fully loaded 33,36 hunter new ,used,demo this year or next year,I am going to retire next year and are moving to west coast,the boat shows hopefully will help with looking for a good deal.

I go to the Annapolis Boat Show every year - it's sort of a religious experience for me. If you are planning to come from far away, I would suggest that you check out motels on Kent Island in the Kent Narrows area (Grasonville). It is about a 20 minute drive west across the Bay Bridge to Annapolis and there are many wonderful places to eat around the Narrows. I usually park in Eastport and walk across the Spa Creek Bridge to the show. A local map of the Annapolis/Eastport area will be of great help to you.

Camping
My wife and I attended for the first time last year and were quite shoked by the price of rooms and forget about finging one anyhow. We decided to bring our trailer down and parked at the Capitol Area KOA. Should be able to find them in the campground book or online. Nice place clean and just about a 15 min drive to the shuttle busses.

Deal at the show
I am also making the trip to the boat show. Baltimore is a good place to stay and on 1/2 hour to 45 mins away. I am looking to get new sails, would it be of any benefit to get them at the show or just order them now. Also need to get a new traveler. Do they have show deals?

Day trip
I went in 2000 for a day; it was very easy, and not too expensive at the time, to fly down from Boston, rent a car, park in a lot within a very short walk to the show. Spent the whole day, had dinner in a pub, then made it to the airport and home. Advice: 1. bring a backpack for all the junk you will accumulate 2. bring both warm and cool clothing. It started cool and then got blazing hot, so we ended up buying shorts and T-shirts at the show. The savings on things we inteneded to buy more than paid for the airline tickets and rental car. jv
