They are Safety Flares.
There are chemical processes that are under high pressure and contain inflammable materials.
To makes sure they don't cause a danger, if something goes wrong, the inflammables are safely vented and control burned at an Elevation above equipment and people.

I don't see a real problem. Raw water is what you start with, cooked water is coffee.
You wouldn't want to mix the output of the fresh water pump with the potable water pump, even tho it sounds like you could. And is it POT able water or POE table water? And viaduct?

And here I thought hard water was liquid water that had lots of minerals in it like calcium that people use water softeners to remove the minerals. Unless your talking about the material water turns into when it freezes wihich would be some form of ice.
It is POE-table. The other way would be spelled 'pottable.' A related word is 'potion.' I don't hear anybody mispronounce that word. But I'm the only one at my job who pronounces 'potable' correctly, so I come off like an educated snob. Guilty, and proud of it.

@DayDreamer41 it will may turn to be all angsty in August when it’s too hot to move much less sail. From about mid July until early September it’s often too hot to sail until the last hour of the day, even night sailing is pretty dang hot and sticky.
It appears we are all suffering from a rare phobia called "Chionophobia" (Fear of snow). Or could it be Cryophobia- Fear of extreme cold, ice or frost? OMG...I think this is contagious!
