I am having trouble with my Andersen Winches they are the 40ST model with the plastic spring on top. I had to replace the springs three years ago at $20.00 each. I just recieved a couple more this time at $40.00/each. This is beginning to seem expensive. I love the winches overall with the self tailing and two speeds but why the cheap plastic springs on a winch that costs $1200.00??? The problem seems to be high winds. When there is a lot of load on the winch in high winds then the plastic deforms and the winch locks up. Anyone else having problems with these winches???

Man I'm glad I have good old green solid bronze winches.

Plastic springs? C'mon, what were they thinking.

Quick Thought

Take them to a machine shop and have bronze, stainless or aluminum ones made up? I'm not sure what the part is you are referring to, so the idea may not be plausible. Like I said, just a thought. Rick D.

Boat winches

Hi

Contact Andersen and / or the company that imported the boat winch in the first place - in Denmark that would be Watski

They will help you I am sure.
