Ross, that is just what happened. Big nasty wound that took forever to heal.

anti spider product

Our marina must be the spider capital of the world! I have heard stories of spiders jamming the windex. At any rate, most sailors have resorted to a product called Spider ban. It is an aerosol that can be sprayed on the companionway edges, vents, motor mounts, ladder, windex and spreaders. It seems to last a season and works really well. I have personally seen spiders run from it and not return.

Flea collars & downy fabric softener sheets.

Here are a couple of things to try. Put flea collars around stanchions and pulpits. Tuck Downy fabric softener sheets in dodger, bimini's and sail covers. They seem to help control the population. Shell Pest Strips also do a good job in lockers.

Fabric softners

I've used the downy fabric softners with some success but would like to know where to get the Spider ban mentioned in a previous post.

It works, but the clean up is a pain. Seriously, we use anti spider spray. We spray once a season on and under the rubrail around the entire perimeter of the boat. Also, if you do this, don't forget the docklines. They will use them as a gangplank and walk right on. We did this last year, and the only ones we had left were those that floated in airborne. It worked quite well for our needs.

Holy Crap!!

RB, if the Admiral saw a spider like that she'd never set foot on the boat again. I might not either! *yks Where do you live?? I am staying the h*ll away from there!

I know this is hard to believe but since i began using this product to clean the boat, the spider population has decreased by 95% still an occasional one but nothing like before I have no idea why As for the rare one that sticks around, it removes droppings likitysplit (I really do not like killing them since they are such a bug control mechanism in the marina) t

RB that's just a tiger leg spider

they make the nicest orb webs and take them down each day to recycle the silk. They are as skittish as rabbits and will run from you if you disturb them.

Naawww, JB they are just as happy with a light to

attract a few bugs. You are spending too much on entertainment. Just watch the spiders for a couple of nights and you won't need TV. You won't even need sleep for fear that a giant spider will lure you into its web and devour you.

hmmm

LSD makes them make some weird webs, which are cool to look at. Ammonia gets rid of all bugs, for a while. For a long term, add chlorine to the ammonia and hold your breath.
