This mothers day I went to the beach with the family For a day of sand and water. there was a few small catamerans on the beach buy the jet sky rentals. I went over there asked the man how mutch the cat was to rent and he said it was his personal boats and he dosen't rent them out. went back a little upset because I realy wanted to sail and my mom said mabe next year I could bring my mac 25. so it got me wondering say I sail my mac next year from New Orleans to Miss. can I just sail right up to the beach or do I have to find a dock. What kind of ancoring laws do they have in Mississippi, Say, Biloxi, GolfPort.any info is appreciated.

Anchoring
Jacques, Far as I know there are no laws to prohibit you from anchoring just about anywhere you choose. As long as you are not in a channel, or private property, you should be fine. I anchor out all over that part of the world,and have never had any problem. Since you have a shallow draft boat, the inside of Deer island would be a good place around Biloxi. If the weather is calm, you can anchor up just west of Deer island, as close to the beach as you can get.

The guy that had his cats on the beach might have owned the Jet Ski rental company and he has a permit from the city to use that part of the beach. He must keep is boats in his designated area but he is the only one that can do. This might seem unfair but think of how many boaters you see that can’t handle there boats, imagine them trying to beach around swimmers. Hope this helps.

Jaques, Horn Island and Petit Bois (pronounced "petty boy")are about 8 miles off the coast of MS. pull up and anchor almost anywhere. Sometimes they will have short sections of beach roped off for bird nests but you just move to either side. As far as the beach in the Biloxi area, i don't know about anchoring there. Frank

Nice n Easy How long does it take to get there by sail or do you motor, or trailer? I only have a weekend to do this in right know I can trailer it to Mississippi but would like to sail.and Frank ware are there any launches in Miss. if sailing creates a time frame issue.

Jacques, Don't think you could make it from New Orleans in a weekend. It is a pretty long day for me from here, and I am almost out of the lake here in Slidell. From New Orleans you are another three or four hours away. Biloxi is even a little farther than that. I don't recommend any boating on the lake after dark, at least till you get past the Hwy. 90 bridge and into the Rigolets, because of the crab traps. Not sure about launching over there, but should be some useable ramps in the area.

tow it
Tow it over and sail to islands. You can be back home same day. Launch in Gulfport to go to cat or ship island. Go to Biloxi small craft harbor for west end of horn island. Go to pascgoula for east end of horn or petit bois. To get Pascagoula ramp cross hwy 90 bridge take first rt all the way to end. Go rt to launch.
