The anchor light on my 87 O'day 302 ha failed. Does anyone know or have a best guess what bulb it uses? Would like to do the repair with only one trip up the mast.

Larry with an 87, and potentially a couple of owners, even the best guess may be off. Anchor lights take a lot of UV and weather abuse and get replaced more often than some other items. The best bet is to climb the mast short of that would be to buy one of each of the most popular bulbs and then return the unopened ones that were incorrect.
Even the builders have been known switched fixtures from year to year and even month to month depending upon availability when the hull was finished.
After spending a lot of years replacing dead anchor light bulbs at the masthead of some of my previous boats, I got smart. I now use a portable automatic Guest anchor light. I have never had to change a bulb in it and the 6v battery lasts most of the season.
