I am looking for a good anchor, and i heard, and read, that the "spade" or "sword" are the best. Is it true? and if so , where can i buy one>

There are some new designs that may be worth looking into. I have heard some encouraging things about the Rocna, but have no experience with it.

I have a CQR
It works good in the softer bottoms we have around here, unless you get a major wind or current shift. Then seems to have a hard time getting reset. Danforth works as good for me as any in the softer bottoms, but doesn't do so well in grass.

Thin water's got it right. Anchors are like religion and every one has a different idea. For your 34 foot boat, that's surely a sign that you need to do a whole lot more research on anchors. Do what tw suggests first. I have my favorite, but I won't promote one anchor over another. Your boat, your choice.
Midland - small boat channel, Georgian Bay, North Channel. Go with a Bruce or Bruce knockoff. Works almost everywhere up here. Most common anchor seen. Suggest at least 20 ft. of chain. Never had one fail in 20 years here. Spade type (CQR) works well too most of the time.
Take a look at the Manson. I was looking for a better anchor than the original on my Hunter 45CC. In reviews there are some questions about Ronca having theirs made in China from lower quality material. Check videos on line. Manson have a chart for boat size versus anchor weight. They work well in soft bottoms and rocky conditions as they have 2 attaching points. I road out Irene in the Hudson for 18 hours and never moved.
Pretty hard to go wrong with a Manson Supreme. The Rocna is an excellent performer but until they get their crap sorted out I would stay well clear.
The Spade is an excellent but very expensive anchor. I own two of them. I would still choose the Manson Supreme or a New Zealand or Canadian built Rocna over my Spade's every time. The three dimensional weighted tip of the Spade sets it back performance wise when trying to set in hard bottoms. Once set they stay set, re-set and hold very well.
The Oceanne, Sword or Raya were Alain Poirauds later attempts at competing with the Manson Supreme and Rocna. For years he bad mouthed the hoops on those anchors calling them BSH's or "big stupid hoops". After Alain passed away the company that now owns Spade came out with a "BSH" anchor...
I suspect Alain realized he needed an anchor with a one dimensional tip that could penetrate better in harder substrates, at a lower price point than the Spade but missed the mark with all three. None of them ever tested well or even came close to the performance of the Spade or a Rocna or Manson Supreme. As far as I know he never even submitted his last attempt, the Raya, for any independent testing.
The Manson and Rocna perform nearly identically and are tremendous performers compared to many older designs. They'll set in most anything but waist high eel grass or concrete..

Ditto, got a 25 lb. for the Mac and it has never let us down and bought a 35 lb. for the Endeavour and hope a year from now I can say the same there. The boat came with a 35 lb CQR, but we wanted a second good anchor and got the Manson which will be our primary anchor. Used it a couple nights moving the boat and it worked fine.
On the Mac we also have a 22 lb. claw that also never failed, but now use it as the second anchor. We also have a Fortress FX-11 for the Mac, but have never used it. I am thinking about adding a Fortress later to the Endeavours anchors,

The Manson has worked great for me in mud and sand. However, one time I anchored in high eel grass. Because of a strong current and fairly high wind I set a second anchor - a Danforth. When I raised them, I found there was hardly any mud on the Manson but the Danforth showed evidence of having buried itself through the grass into the mud.
