I am currently traveling to the Florida Keys and the Bahamas on a Beneteau 323 with a swing keel. Anchoring is a constant problem. I have three different anchor types, 50 ft. of chain, 20 lb. kelletts that I can add to the anchor line and a sea anchor.
Anchoring a 323 is like holding a snake by the head. Horsing "yawling" is a constant battle and strain on the anchor hold. I've used the sea anchor to reduce the swing some and cut down on the strain on the anchor hold on the bow and the stern at different times, which does slow the swing.
I'm looking for ways to reduce the horsing/yawling. I've used two anchors, short and long, out the bow, which does help some. Rear anchoring is not usually an option.
I just ordered a riding sail and am at a loss for anything further. I know other boaters have experienced this problem. Does anyone have better luck with anchoring that is willing to share their ideas?
